Ever had problems parking in Twyford, particularly at the station? You are certainly not alone!
As a frustrated commuter who regularly travels from Twyford Station, I have started a petition to address the chronic lack of parking spaces at Twyford station.
The current car park is dramatically under capacity and fails to meet the growing demand of commuters in the area.
This issue has caused immense inconvenience and frustration for countless individuals like myself who rely on public transportation.
Twyford station's car park reaches full capacity even before the day begins, leaving many commuters with no other option but to park their vehicles outside of designated bays or on nearby verges. This not only creates an unsafe environment but also leads to fines imposed on desperate individuals who have no alternative parking options.
It is evident that other local stations such as Winnersh and Wokingham have received investments in their parking infrastructure, including the addition of multi-story car parks. However, Twyford station has been left behind without any significant improvements.
The growth of the commuter base from Twyford since lockdown and the opening of the Elizabeth line has undoubtedly exacerbated this problem further.
Additionally, there is a lack of decent pedestrianised commuting routes from surrounding areas, making it even more crucial to provide adequate parking facilities for those relying on public transportation.
We call upon Network Rail and their partners GWR (Great Western Railway), TFL (Transport for London), and Apcoa to take immediate action in addressing this issue by investing in additional parking spaces at Twyford station. It is essential that they recognise the urgency and prioritise improving our commuting experience.
